HOW CAN KIDS ENGAGE WITH SHAKESPEARE’S LANGUAGE?

Inspired by the plays and language of Shakespeare, The Stowaway uses puppetry, live music, and a sea of imagination to bring the poetry of the Bard to the young and young at heart.

Times are changing on the Island of Hockey Puck. A new Duke is ruling with an iron fist, the old Duke disappeared in a puddle of mystery, and a stowaway named Dull is on the run from it all back to her homeland of Illyria.

The Stowaway was originally commissioned by Classic Stage Company Artistic Director - John Doyle, Managing Director - Jeff Griffin, and Associate Artistic Director, Education - Kathleen Dorman. Devised and created by Trusty Sidekick Theater Company, the world premiere presentation was part of Classic Stage Company’s 50th Anniversary Season. We gratefully acknowledge this project is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
