APRIL 2013
In the midst of an exciting spring of programming, we're delighted to announce a few upcoming collaborations. First, Trusty Sidekick will co-produce the world premiere of THE BOY AT THE EDGE OF EVERYTHING by Finegan Kruckemeyer with Seattle Children's Theatre, opening in March 2014. TSTC Artistic Director Jonathan Shmidt will direct the production in Seattle. We look forward to sharing more details about the upcoming production soon!
In addition, Trusty Sidekick has been named an artist-in-residence at the Park Avenue Armory as part of their Under Construction Series. During the residency, Trusty Sidekick will develop a new immersive production for kids and families called The 7 1/2 Mysteries of Toulouse McLane, conceived and led by TSTC Associate Artistic Director Drew Petersen. A work-in-progress of the piece will be presented at the Armory on October 6. More info to come. You can read the NY Times announcement about the residency HERE
FEBRUARY 2013
We've had a busy winter! In addition to our current season, we've been continuing our development of THE BOY AT THE EDGE OF EVERYTHING by Finegan Kruckemeyer. We are in the midst of a full-year residency with the New Victory LabWorks Project. We were chosen as the pilot company of this exciting new work development program. For more information about it, read this blog post. We presented an enhanced reading of the play as part of our residency at The Duke on 42nd Street in January.
La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego also hosted a reading of the play, as part of their DNA New Work Reading Series in February -- it was the only play for young audiences in a series consisting of exciting new work for adult audiences. It was exciting to share this play with a new audience on the west coast.
SEPTEMBER 2012
Trusty Sidekick is thrilled to announce that we will spend another year in residence at The Performance Project @ University Settlement. In addition to remounting SHADOW PLAY where it all began, we'll be creating a new show for 2-5 year olds called OFF THE MAP, led by Sidekick Retta Leaphart. Stay tuned for more information on this imaginative new production.
Following our successful participation to the New Visions/New Voices Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and a generous LAUNCH Residency with Cleveland PlayhouseSquare, we are hard at work continuing development on THE BOY AT THE EDGE OF EVERYTHING by Finegan Kruckemeyer. We are really excited about the upcoming production (set to premiere in the 2013-14 season) and we'll keep you posted as the development continues.
